Have you always dreamed of going on an Indiana Jones-style adventure? That’s just what you’ll get on the Riviera Maya Private Chichen Itza + Coba Maya Ruins tour. From exploring one of the New Seven Wonders of the World to uncovering the secrets of the Hidden City of Coba, this tour is a hit with adventurous travelers. And while it’s an Indiana Jones-style adventure, you don’t have to run around like the action hero. It’s a private tour, so you get to set the pace. Get the details, and you’ll see why this is one of the most popular Coba and Chichen Itza tours.
Let’s start at the Coba Mayan ruins, where you will explore the Hidden City of Coba. Coba is relatively isolated, making its role as a former thriving Mayan city all the more fascinating. Tours of Coba have only been offered for a handful of decades, so you’ll be among the first to explore the ruins. Most people agree that Nohoch Mul is the highlight of the Coba tours, and you can even climb the ancient pyramid and enjoy the view from above.
Your Chichen Itza tour will be next on the list. The Chichen Itza Mayan ruins have been named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, and they are sure to take your breath away. When you take one of the tours of Chichen Itza, you can expect to hit all the highlights, including the ball court and observatory. Then, of course, there is the Chichen Itza pyramid. There are signs next to the structures, or you can include a guide in your tour if you want to learn even more.
If you’re looking for Chichen Itza and Coba tours, you’re sure to love this one. It’s among the best things to do in Riviera Maya, and it departs from several locations. Contact us for a quote! Keep in mind that some access to parts of the Mayan ruins may be limited. At Coba, they have bike services you can rent to take you to explore the entire site. Their English is rudimentary, but they know their site and make for a great guided service. Coba is probably the most accessible ruin site for those with disabilities in general.
Insider Tip: We suggest an early start! Exploring the Mayan Ruins can be exhausting once the sun is at its highest. Start your tour by 6:30am. Chichen Itza is 3.5 hours from Playa del Carmen using the federal highway. At Coba we highly recommend renting a bike to be able to explore the most in the least time. With this private tour you can also make extra stops if you book extra hours ($35USD per hour). If you’d rather start later, you can ask your driver to use the toll road for $40usd paid in cash. The toll road is an hour and a half faster than the federal road. Coba is best in the afternoon as it is well shaded.
Groups: Private tour is available for larger groups at an additional cost; contact us for a custom quote!
Notes: You can hire a private guide at the entrance for 900 pesos for up to 25 people for a 90 minute guided tour or explore on your own. To use video cameras you have to pay a $3.50usd government video tax.
