Coba Mayan Ruins Tour Direct from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Riviera Maya Hotels
Take a deep dive into ancient Mayan culture on our Riviera Maya Coba Express Tour! Located in the heart of the jungle, the Coba Mayan ruins consist of various settlements connected by white roads and surrounded by lagoons. This site used to be home to an estimated 50,000 residents, and during the tour, you’ll gain insight into their lives and culture. Oh, and get this - you can even climb an ancient pyramid on this Coba tour! That’s a rare treat and reason enough to take a Coba tour. Of course, there are many other reasons you’re sure to love our Coba Express adventure! Let’s dig in, so you’ll see why you should add this to your itinerary.
Expect to be amazed as soon as you enter this site. Surrounded by the wild jungle, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported back in time during the Coba tour. The site is massive and full of structures to explore. Many people head directly to the left to see the Coba Pyramid. Climbing the 120 steps to the top of the Ixmoja Pyramid is often considered one of the most thrilling things to do in Riviera Maya. Once you reach the top, you’ll be treated to jungle views as far as the eye can see. As one of the tallest structures in Riviera Maya, it really is hard to beat this view during your trip.
While some tours of Coba would end there, you will explore the rest of the settlement as well. Check out ancient ball courts, wind your way through tunnels, and see additional structures during the tour. Then, when the guided tour is over, you can explore more on your own. Consider renting a bike or hiring a pedicab to take you back through the ruins.
This is one of our most popular Coba tours in Riviera Maya. It includes the best sights, and we make it easy by offering transportation from most locations. Whether you need to travel from Cancun to Coba, Playa del Carmen to Coba, or the Riviera Maya to the ruins, we have a tour for you. Insider Tip: The hidden city of Coba is seldom visited but has a 138 foot tall Mayan pyramid called Nohoch Mul (or Ixmoja) that you can actually climb. The view is amazing but the steps are steep and narrow so it isn’t for the faint of heart. There are 120 steps, and the pyramid is just 138 feet. So each step is nearly a foot high! It’s the original Thigh Master.
