So, our first lesson takes place in a local market in Puerto Vallarta renowned for its fresh produce and variety of chilies and spices. Next stop is the "tortillaria" where we will not be taking home already made tortillas. Instead we will pick up the "maza", the dough used to make tortillas so you can learn to press your own tortillas by hand. All ingredients on hand, you will be invited to the chef's home to begin the yummy part, the cooking class!
Depending the day of the week, our cooking class in Puerto Vallarta will teach you all the skills you need to make:
- Monday: Tacos al Pastor (marinated pork meat)
- Tuesday: Mole Poblano (chicken mole sauce) & Tamales (corn husk filled with hearty chicken, beef, chilis or sweet stuffing like pineapple and strawberry)
- Wednesday: Mariscos! Sea Food Day (whatever is freshest that day, octopus, ceviche, shrimp)
- Thursday: Chiles Rellenos (ground beef or cheese, shrimp, chefs choice of the day)
- Friday: Carnitas (pork meat fried with sauce or pork skin)
- Saturday: Mole Poblano and Tamales (Same as Tuesday, but dishes rotate according to what is freshest at the market)
- DAILY: Fresh home-made corn tortillas + Salsas +1 side dish
