Tour From Puerto Vallarta to Mascota and Guachimontones Pyramids
It’s no secret that Mexico is home to a wide variety of fascinating archeological sites. However, did you know that you can visit a major pre-Columbian archeological site just a few hours outside of Puerto Vallarta? Come see for yourself! Our Guachimontones and Mascota tour from Puerto Vallarta is a great way to spend the day exploring the history and culture of Mexico.
Begin your day bright and early with breakfast before heading out in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle towards Teuchitlan, Jalisco. Once we arrive, we'll tour the Guachimontones pyramids and archaeological site. Guachimontones Jalisco is a major archaeological site dating back as early as 300 BCE! Your experienced bilingual tour guide will share the history of the pre-Columbian peoples with you as you explore the ruins. Be sure your camera is fully charged. Guachimontones has some amazing photo ops.
Once we’re finished with our Guachimontones tour, we'll journey back to the present day Mascota. Mascota is actually a nineteenth century Colonial town that almost feels like it’s been frozen in time. Surrounded by pine tree-covered mountains, your tour of Mascota will give you an opportunity to travel back to colonial times. Your guide will point out the fascinating architecture and historical sites.
Enjoy a lovely stroll through the town’s center, visit an archaeological museum and the town’s stunning Señora de los Dolores church. There is even an unfinished temple from the 17th century! Stop and chat with the locals, and indulge in the opportunity to buy some handcrafted sweets from the region before heading back to Puerto Vallarta.
There are never a lack of things to do in Puerto Vallarta. In any tourist destination in Mexico, it's fascinating to take a short trip outside of the city and explore the surrounding magic of its little towns and historical sites. However, when it comes to unique Puerto Vallarta tours, the Guachimontes archaeological site is tops!
